Economical Gifts for all your Flamenco Crazies

Economical Gifts for all your Flamenco Crazies

November 30, 2020 Posted by rina@rinaorellana.com Flamenco Accessories & Tools, Flamenco Craft & Practice No Comments

What a year! Gah! Perhaps we can finish off crazy 2020 with a little hope for brighter days in 2021 with some flamenco goodness.

Of course there are ALWAYS high ticket items like flamenco shoes, shawls or dresses! Here are some ECONOMICAL* flamenco gift ideas so you can delight your favorite dancer- or delight yourself!

ONLINE LESSONS!

This pandemic has shown that learning flamenco online is totally possible. (Well, after teaching online with the Online Flamenco Studio for the past 5 years, I could’ve already told you that!)

FLAMENCO COMPAS APP

There are tons of apps to use for ‘solo compás’ practice- that’s practicing to a flamenco metronome. But what’s really helpful is if you can practice with guitar. There are many solo compás CD’s and musical downloads that do that, but it’s not really a thing in the app world.

However, this little app called “Flamenco Compas” (they gotta come up with better names!) has the guitar that you can adjust to whatever tempo you need. It hasn’t been updated in years, but it works great. Plus, at only $4.99 it’s such a bargain since you don’t have to buy all the individual downloadable recordings. There is a free version with only Alegrias available.

KEEP YOUR BODY HEALTHY!

One of the best concepts I’ve learned about in keeping my body strong and agile for flamenco is doing work on my fascia. That’s the lining that wraps around the muscles. There are many tools that that help with that- foam rollers, rolling sticks, balls. (You can find more in my Amazon store here.) But the best one I like, hands down, are these little therapy balls for less than $20. They soothe everything! I attribute them to helping me heal my stress fracture in my toe several years ago. You can get the companion book for $25 to show you all the different exercises you can do with them.

FLAMENCO NATURAL PERFUME

Now, this lovely flamenco oil won’t necessarily make you dance better, but it smells wonderful, and the maker is a dancer as well. The scent is spicy and floral and could may well inspire you to let that inner flamenca out! All natural ingredients and hand-made, $22.

DANCE FLOORS

Now, if you want to *truly* show your love for your flamenco dancer, then build her a sprung floor to practice on. No carpentry skills? Then get a 4×4′ piece of birch plywood, cover it in a coat of polyurethane and you’re good to go. You can then get these mats to place the board on top if you need more cushioning for around $25.
